A water mould. Although somewhat similar to fungi, it is classified within a different kingdom. Species of the Pythium genus (which causes root rots in canola), Hyaloperonospora brassicae (the pathogen that causes downy mildew disease) and Albugo candida (the pathogen that causes white rust disease) are all examples of oomycetes.
