Warm temperatures increase moisture migration in bins

Outside temperatures affect moisture migration within grain bins. When outside temperatures are warmer than the stored grain, this will warm the grain near the outside wall of the bin. This causes air inside the bin to cycle up the outside and down the middle, concentrating moisture in the centre. Moisture is then reabsorbed by the cooler canola seed in the centre of the bin. This moisture migration can increase storage risk. Graphics in the Canola Encyclopedia. How to check bins and bags for spoilage.
