January 14-15 — Agronomy Update in Red Deer, Alberta is for grain producers, crop advisors and industry partners to interface with leading agriculture scientists about relevant soils and crops issues in Alberta. Three Canola Council of Canada (CCC) agronomy specialists will make presentations: Autumn Barnes on “How to scout for sclerotinia stem rot in canola,” Dan Orchard on “How to scout for blackleg in canola,” and Greg Sekulic on “Should I grow a clubroot resistant variety?” Click here for more information and to register.
January 14-15 — CropSphere in Saskatoon. This is a new conference organized by SaskCanola, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, Saskatchewan Oat Development Commission, SaskFlax, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission and the Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission. The agenda of thought provoking talks and breakout sessions will engage Saskatchewan growers in discussions to improve the crop industry in the province. Registration is required. January 13-16 — Crop Production Show in Saskatoon. Prairieland Park will host this long running trade show. SaskCanola and the CCC will have booths side by side in Room B. Click here for more information.
January 21-23 — AgDays in Brandon, Manitoba. Canola Day is January 21, which will include a presentation from CCC agronomy specialist Angela Brackenreed on “The Ultimate Canola Challenge: Best Management Practices for Canola,” and a clubroot panel discussion with CCC agronomy specialist Dan Orchard, MARFD oilseed specialist Anastasia Kubinec and an Alberta grower with first hand clubroot experience. January 28-30 — FarmTech in Edmonton. FarmTech might be sold out by the time you read this. It features keynote speakers with important big picture messages, and breakout sessions on timely crop production issues. Come see “Canola Watch Live!” on Tuesday at 1:30 or Wednesday at 4:00.
