Issues of the week

Cool conditions have slowed crop development. Seedling diseases are showing up in some canola plants that were seeded weeks ago and are still small. Canola across the Prairies needs heat so it can start to outgrow early season threats. Growers who still have canola to seed must remember to scout earlier seeded canola. These early crops have higher yield and profit potential and shouldn’t be neglected. Crop insurance deadlines are near. If growers have seed they will not use, unopened bags can usually be returned.
