This section provides timely support for canola-related projects outside of Canola Watch.

Farm safety with kids home from school. Schools are closed, sports are cancelled and kids are at home on the farm now more than ever. This is the time to invest in their safety. Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) says safe play areas, supervision and assigning age and skill appropriate tasks are just a few ways to keep kids healthy and thriving on the farm. CASA has plenty of information about keeping kids safe on your farm. Make it a family policy to talk about farm safety and keep everyone safe. CASA also has Agricultural Youth Work Guidelines.

You can help with pest monitoring in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is adopting a permission-based survey system to maintain a robust pest-monitoring system. Your consent will allow staff to monitor pests on your property and will contribute to the health of the agriculture industry in Saskatchewan. To participate, sign up through this online form. It will only take a minute or two.

In lieu of hosting its Saskatchewan CanolaPalooza field day (which has been cancelled), SaskCanola has launched Top Notch Farming Tips to support farmers throughout the 2020 growing season. SaskCanola continues to partner with the best Saskatchewan experts to provide a wide range of canola agronomic knowledge and tools in a variety of virtual formats. Personal Protective Equipment needs. Alberta farmers can submit PPE orders directly to the Logistics Section of Municipal Affairs’ Alberta Emergency Management Agency’s Provincial Operations Centre (AEMA-POC) for procurement on their behalf. Alberta Canola provides instructions. Manitoba Canola Growers are getting calls about PPEs and would like your insight. Manitoba growers, please take a moment to complete the MCGA survey.
