Weed escapes and fall weed management

While swathing or straight combining, keep an eye out for weed escapes. Unless they are an obvious sprayer miss or are weeds not well controlled under the herbicides used on the field, they could be herbicide resistant weed patches.

The goal should be to avoid the patch during harvest, collect a sample to test for resistance, and destroy the patch without running it through a combine. Sacrificing the little bit of crop in the patch is worth the long-term benefit.
