The first time we grew canola on our farm was probably about 1987 or 1988. That was when my dad took over the farm from my grandfather. My grandfather never wanted to try something that seemed that “exotic”, so he didn’t have the equipment for it. My dad came back to the farm, bought an old drill, and started trying to grow some canola. I was there, having worked around agriculture with Agriculture Canada already, so I knew a little bit about it, and so that was the first canola crop that was seeded. The first of many.
