Statement on 2021 federal election results

September 21, 2021 – The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) congratulates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada on their re-election. The CCC looks forward to working with the government and all parliamentarians to continue to grow the canola industry and the broader agricultural sector.

“With a new Parliament comes a new opportunity to re-engage with political decision-makers on the key issues facing the industry including market access, sustainability and innovation,” said Jim Everson, president of the CCC. “The Canola Council is eager to engage with the new government as we work to achieve the ambitious goals set out in our strategic plan, including increased productivity to meet the growing demand for canola.”

The political parties outlined a number of key priorities for the agriculture sector. The CCC will be a collaborative partner in this new minority Parliament, working to advance innovation, regulatory modernization, sustainability and market access for the canola sector.

As Canada continues to work through and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the canola industry will continue to play a leading role in growing the economy and maintaining Canada’s global leadership in the marketplace.
