'PALOOZA travels to Portage la Prairie for July 25

With Saskatchewan and Alberta enjoying highly successful canolaPALOOZAs the end of June, the attention now turns to Manitoba’s CROPS-A-PALOOZA, July 25 in Portage la Prairie.

The one day, hands on, free, in-field learning interactive event brings together the best research and agronomy extension professionals and farmers to learn how to grow the best crops.

CROPS-A-PALOOZA is a collaboration between hosting partners: Manitoba Canola Growers, Manitoba Corn Growers, Manitoba Flax Growers, Manitoba Oat Growers and Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers, Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers and the National Sunflower Association of Canada. Managing partners are Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Canola Council of Canada.

The event will have 50 industry experts at 16 stations, including:

Crop Rotation: Managing crop diseases and saving you money
Rational aspects for weed management
Pollinators, predators and Prey
Power of nitrogen
Harvest management
Battling sclerotinia
…and…
Kids Corner – Agriculture in the Classroom (this station runs from 9:00am to 11:00 am only)

Participants will be given a site map and encouraged to explore the stations at their own pace. Music, games, and delicious lunch options give this event a fun carnival atmosphere.

Please be sure to wear appropriate footwear based on the weather and bring cash to enjoy a variety of lunch food vendors.
