Do not grow the canola varieties on this list.
Varieties: Exceed, 2631 LL, Swallow, SW Legion LL, SW Flare LL, LBD 2393 LL
Description &
History
These are Liberty Link herbicide tolerant Argentine (B. napus) varieties that are no longer commercially sold in Canada and are no longer registered.
Market Issues Europe: Exceed, 2631 LL, Swallow, SW Legion LL, SW Flare LL and LBD 2393 LL contain the transformation event T45 that is not approved in the European Union for food or seed.
Within the next year, the canola industry expects that the European Commission will complete the approvals for Roundup Ready (event GT73) and the currently sold InVigor (event MS8RF3) varieties allowing imports of canola. This is important to our industry as Europe is now sourcing canola for their expanding biodiesel industry.
However - T45 is not approved and we do not know when, or if, it will be approved. This lack of approval could continue to block our access to the EU even when the other varieties are approved.
Recommendation to Growers Do not seed Exceed, 2631 LL, Swallow, SW Legion LL, SW Flare, and LBD 2393 LL.

Deliver seed from these varieties as soon as possible because your market options may be limited within the next six months. Do not deliver any seed produced from these varieties to any ADM crushing facility.

Check this site for any future changes to this recommendation or call 1-866-834-4378. For treated seed: contact provincial authorities or municipal landfills for disposal.
