Cargill Expands Canola Oils Innovation Center

What do you get when you cross canola with 20,000 square feet of research facilities? The Cargill Specialty Canola Oils Innovation Center. The Fort Collins, Colo.-based canola research facility held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 19, featuring an expanded greenhouse and technology lab focused on the genetics, breeding and food science of canola. The expansion will aim to meet the demands of growers and food customers, according to Lorin Debonte, assistant vice president of research and development for Cargill Specialty Canola Oils.

"In developing new oil traits, we work with our oil customers to understand how to develop an ingredient package to meet their product formulation requirements in delivering the healthiest product possible," he said. "We then couple that with an emphasis on yield genetics to which contributes to our ability to offer assurance of supply to our customers."
