Canola growers make major investments in their operations, but there is one investment that won’t cost them a cent: Canola Watch e-reports from the Canola Council of Canada (CCC) begin this week.
This weekly resource contains timely facts and advice based on information collected through the Canola Agronomy Network. Led by the CCC team of agronomy specialists and provincial oilseed specialists, the network includes agronomists, extension specialists, growers, and industry retailers who take part in weekly conference calls from early May to early September.
“Growers want to run profitable operations, and we want to make sure they have the best and most recent information available to do it,” says John Mayko, senior agronomy specialist for CCC based in western Alberta. “Many basic rules apply for growing canola, but every year is somewhat different and every region is unique.”
The weekly reports provide details on what is occurring in the field, and also give tips and information that will help in identifying and managing issues as arise in the field.
Canola growers and agronomists looking for just-in-time information to help manage the 2009 canola crop are encouraged to sign up for the free weekly Canola Watch e-reports.
