Lower Tariffs for Canola Oil Exports to Europe

A free trade agreement between Canada and members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) will be effective July 1, 2009, reducing or eliminating the export tariff on crude canola oil. The EFTA countries include Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. This free trade agreement is the first of its kind between Canada and European countries.

"Remember" Good Fats

It’s well-known that "good" unsaturated fats are part of a healthy diet. But scientists at the University of California-Irvine have found that oleic acid, the monounsaturated fat in canola oil, has the potential to help treat memory-related problems, as they are converted during digestion to a substance that affects memory signals in the brain.

CCC Teams Up With Canadian Foundation for Dietetic Research

The Canola Council of Canada will join the Canadian Foundation for Dietetic Research in a patron sponsorship of $25,000 over five years, providing grant money for research in dietetics and nutrition.
