CanolaInfo "Tweets" You to Delicious Sautéed Dishes

A CanolaInfo satellite media tour about its "Sauté Today" recipe and video series featuring culinary expert Tori Ritchie aired on 20 television stations nationwide June 1, including large markets such as St. Louis and Phoenix as well as a few national programs. Ritchie did a live cooking demo of her Sautéed Scallops with Peas in Lemon-Tarragon Sauce. The following day, she interacted with enthusiastic participants about sautéing in CanolaInfo’s first Twitter party.

Canola Oil Beefs Up Burger Quality

Burgers got a lot of press May 28 in honor of National Hamburger Day and so did canola oil. Mr. Bartley’s, a famous burger joint near Harvard University that’s been featured on the Food Network, pairs its 85 percent-lean ground beef with sweet potato fries cooked in canola oil for a healthier take the American classic. And for those not fortunate enough to have a grill during barbecue season, grilling guru Bobby Flay recommends cooking beef patties in a cast iron pan with canola oil.

Freezer Frenzy Heats Up High-Oleic Canola Oil

Frozen food sales are on the rise and expected to reach to nearly $65 million by 2013. That’s good news for "next-generation oils" like high-oleic canola oil, as it’s one of the main ways frozen food manufacturers are eliminating trans fat from their products, according to FoodProcessing.com.

Chocolate for Breakfast? Canola Oil Makes It Possible

A celebrity dietitian gives chocolate muffins the seal of approval as long as they’re made with canola oil and a few other stealthily healthy ingredients. Replacing butter with canola oil, whole milk with fat-free buttermilk and half the regular flour with whole wheat flour makes these muffins a breakfast of champions.

Canola Oil Allows for Fair Steaks in Contest

The Steak of Origin 2010 Challenge judged the beef quality of about 400 cattle breeds and each steak was cooked in canola oil to maintain its flavor integrity. Because if its neutral taste, canola oil did not impart flavor on the steaks, which ensured a fair contest.
