Canola Dominates Domestic Edible Oil Market
Demand for canola oil is fast-growing due to its superior nutritional profile and the Canola Council of Canada is stepping up to the plate with its "Growing Great 2015" program. Its goal is to increase annual production of canola to 15 million tons over the next six years. Most Canadian canola is exported and Asian consumption of edible oils is expected to rise another 5 percent in the next five years.

U.S. Celebrity Chef Ming Tsai Highlights Canola Oil
Former CanolaInfo spokesman Ming Tsai is featured in Taste of the Seacoast magazine’s winter 2009 issue, providing three recipes that call for canola oil. The chef says that although he’s "not a ‘diet chef,’" he does opt for healthy ingredients in his restaurant like canola oil.

Canola Protein May Become Hot, New Food Additive
Bio Extraction and Burcon Nutrascience both hope to start producing and marketing canola protein isolates within three years, which will add value to the canola crop as these isolates sell for about six times the price of animal feed protein. Moreover, canola protein is twice as high as whey protein in cysteine – which may help prevent metabolic syndrome, according to a study in the British Journal of Nutrition – and a good source of sulfur amino acids.

Nutritious, Mexican-inspired recipes using canola oil for Cinco de Mayo through summer have been a successful promotion for CanolaInfo, particularly as its first cooking-related press release distributed in both English and Spanish. Impressions for the English release have reached 150 million so far, including publications such as Yahoo, Yahoo Canada and Yahoo UK & Ireland. Several U.S. Hispanic media picked up the Spanish text and recipes, including Adelante Valle, ¡Hola! Arkansas and Todobebe.com.
